Model and actress Anika Kabir Shokh said that she wanted to be a good actress and also a good fashion designer.

Shokh answered different questions from the visitors of banglanews24.com through three chat boxes named after his works ‘Fifty Fifty’, ‘FnF’ and ‘Alpa Alpa Premer Galpa’.

Maznun Mizan’s acting career began 15 years ago, with Dhaka Theatre. Regular stage appearance eventually brought him to the world of TV plays. Although he took on humble roles in the beginning, his popularity grew with TV commercials. His success in the media landed him important roles in TV plays and made him a known face among the viewers.

When did you join Dhaka Theatre?

Mizan: January 16, 1996. I also enrolled at Jahangirnagar University as a student during that time. Studies and acting both went on side by side. Truth be told, the doors to all dreams opened for me when I joined Dhaka Theatre. I learned many things, which I would not have unless I joined theatre.

Momtaz in Belal Khan’s tunes

Folk legend Momtaz has contributed her vocal for a playback track of a government-grant movie recently. Lyrics of the playback track is an adaptation from noted poet Nirmalendu Goon’s famous poem “Nekabborer Moha Proyan.” Promising musician Belal Khan has composed the tunes of the track.

Lyrics of the playback track titled “Shokhire tor ghum nai oi dui chokhe – ei raiter nithor kandon loiya buke” was composed by the film director Masud Pathik himself. Music of this track was coordinated by Belal Khan and Mushfiq Litu.

Workshop on Bratachari at Shilpakala Academy

Marking the 130th birth anniversary (May 10) of the initiator of Bratachari Movement, Gurusaday Dutt, a five-daylong Bratachari Workshop is on at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA).

Bratachari, Bangladesh in association with BSA is organising the workshop.

Director General of BSA, Liaquat Ali Lucky inaugurated the workshop as chief guest on May 15. President of Bratachari, Bangladesh, Dr. Sanjida Khatun, presided over the inaugural event of the workshop. A Bratachari cultural programme will be held on the concluding day (May 19) of the workshop at National Music and Dance Centre Auditorium of BSA at 5pm.

Children stage Tagore’s Kal Mrigaya

Music lovers of the port city flocked to see “Kal Mrigaya”, a dance-drama composed by Rabindranath Tagore at Theatre Institute, Chittagong (TIC) on May 14.

Presented by children, the performance enthralled the audience.

In observance of the 151st birth anniversary of poet Tagore, Fame Dance, Drama and Kids Theatre, arranged the programme.

Chittagong’s noted dance artiste Tilottama Sengupta choreographed the dance-drama.

Shako celebrates decade thru’ group art show

The neat and sophisticated atmosphere of Radius Art Gallery on the 5th floor of Bay’s Galleria on Gulshan avenue has aptly matched with the finesse and quality of an ongoing art exhibition of Shako, an art organisation of a bunch of Dhaka-based female artists.

Titled Illuminating Spirit of Colours, the group painting show was inaugurated on 4 May in observance of Shako’s 10th founding anniversary. The participating artists are Dr Farida Zaman, Plamodon Kuhu, Rebeka Sultana, Afrozaa Jamil Konka, Nasima Khanam Queenie, Naima Haq, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Fareha Zeba, Nasreen Begum, Farzana Islam Milky, Bipasha Hayat, Farzana Ahmed Urmi and Sulekha Chowdhury.
